It's amazing how these simple little technological flourishes can greatly enhance the content of a lesson or assessment.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16784096086003766053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4845016272649836262.post-26819932766567453002013-11-29T19:23:46.254-08:002013-11-29T19:23:46.254-08:00Hi Phillip,

This is a big goal for dental hygiene instructor because our students need to have clinical problem solving skills. You made a valid point about reflecting on our instruction. I am always trying to find ways to make my lessons more meaningful and up-to-date with current practices. To be good instructors we need to constantly be evaluating ourselves.

-Samreide1skhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00169706215203564263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4845016272649836262.post-26035162055419624442013-11-23T20:50:45.522-08:002013-11-23T20:50:45.522-08:00Phil,

In my music class, it seems perfectly natural, through reading lyrics to writing them, or changing them. We also focus on music history throughout the year. As I read your post and the article, I began to think of all of the many ways that literacy is touched in one class period and was amazed at the connections. Thank you for sharing! Perhaps if we show how often common core is connected in our classrooms we will provide additional reasons to advocate the arts in schools...

MeganMegan Endicotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03536800381897369560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4845016272649836262.post-8117375320597679102013-11-23T13:46:10.989-08:002013-11-23T13:46:10.989-08:00This does bring a good point about being able to p...This does bring a good point about being able to present the material to your students in a way that they are able to better understand it. Just because you may create something that may be filled with content, it still may not be beneficial for the students to learn the material. I also think those tips presented are very beneficial not only in the classroom but throughout every day life and can be showed and presented to the students so they also know what to expect in the real world. I think that using class time for more meaningful activities is the way to go, there is only so much time I have in class with my dental hygiene students. I have not flipped my classroom, but I am thinking about ways to do this so that my students get the most out of the class time. I think that like the author, Bergmann states before you can flip your classroom, you have to flip your thinking.

-Samreide1skhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00169706215203564263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4845016272649836262.post-91140077504550350152013-11-16T08:14:19.762-08:002013-11-16T08:14:19.762-08:00Phillips, not only can those 8 tips to power up pr...Phillips, not only can those 8 tips to power up presentation be use in the classroom but it can be use anytime that you need to do a presentation. I love the idea of creating a year long portfolio of work, writing, ideas, and reflections that will show growth and develop in my students as the year progresses. I also think it will motivate my 'reluctant' learners to share and interact with their peers in a format that is more engaging. I believe parents will love the opportunity to interact with their child, and view their work online. What grade are you considering a blog for, and will it be a whole class blog or individual blogs for each student?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11800360728022317257noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4845016272649836262.post-72912194469410127062013-11-02T19:36:43.996-07:002013-11-02T19:36:43.996-07:00Totally agree 100%, with the advancements of techn...Totally agree 100%, with the advancements of technology in the classroom, it has allowed new ways to communicate, and express ideas. The video was short, to the point and offered an easy to understand explanation on Creative Commons. I use Creative Commons all the time and couldn't imagine going back to constant researching and calling persons or companies for permissions on certain things, every time I wanted to make a relevant change in instruction.

Willmed.
